Someone Get Jackie MacMullan a Muzzle

Posted: January 14, 2011 in Jets

Every time I get the chance I like to watch Around the Horn on ESPN. This is a show full of country wide sports writers discussing the hottest stories in sports. Today one of the topics was which is a better rivalry Jets/Pats or Steelers/Ravens. While most said the Steelers/Ravens,which I cannot disagree with, they all came up with viable reasons to support their claim. This was true for all except Boston’s own Jackie MacMullan. MacMullan responded by saying the Jets/Pats “are not a rivalry, because the Jets have not won”. Are you fucking kidding? You must have been spending too much time in the kitchen making sandwhiches to realize the Jets and Pats have split the last 3 seasons, and the Jets beat Brady in Foxboro! She then began to talk about the injuries to Damien Woody and Justin Leonard. Who the fuck is Justin Leonard? Maybe you mean JIM Leonard. You had a whole night to prepare for this show and you showed me nothing other than you should be making me a sandwhich on Sundays instead of writing about football.

It’s Personal.

Colts QB Peyton Manning (left) and Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan (Right)

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has made it clear that he is very confident in his troops and he is not afraid to let you know it. All year long, Rex has made it known that he thinks his team is the best in the league. What else is the guy supposed to say? Not all coaches are as vocal about this but are you going to go into a game thinking you are going to lose? I love the swag that Rex Ryan brings to the Jets football team. As much as I love Rex Ryan, I can’t agree with his recent comments concerning the Jets Wild card game tomorrow night against the Colts. Ryan was quoted saying ” Is it personal? Yes, it’s personal. It’s personal against him, Reggie Wayne, all those guys, yeah. (Dwight) Freeney and (Robert) Mathis and those other dudes? Absolutely.” Why Rex? Just because Peyton Manning has made you his bitch everytime you have thrown your blitzing defense at him does not make it personal. You are giving one of the greatest QBs of all time an added incentive to take it to your defense and make you look bad again. Peyton Manning is a wizard when it comes to reading defenses. Although he will be without receiver Austin Collie, one of his favorite targets, Peyton will do what he does and that is make plays. The Jets are going to need to play their game, ground and pound. Field position will be a major component of this game. If you can pin Manning back on his side of the field and control the clock, you might force him into trying to force and pass and a possible mistake. This is why the Jets brought in Antonio Cromartie, to make a play on these mistakes. It’s time to earn his pay check and make a big play. Check in tomorrow for a preview of the Colts/Jets showdown in Indianapolis.
